Please welcome the Akai MPC X, a standalone music production centre that builds upon the world-famous MPC sampler series. Akai returns with the MPC X, helping to push the boundaries of contemporary music production as far as it can go.

The MPC X is a standalone production centre featuring a 10.1-inch full colour, multi-touch screen alongside 16 RGB backlit velocity-sensitive pads, 16 fully assignable rotary controls and 16GB worth of internal storage. The MPC X works without the need for a computer thanks to the superior-quality MPC 2.0 software however you can integrate it into a computer-based setup so you can use it alongside other software and hardware synthesisers. Alternatively, you can use the MPC X as a high-powered MIDI controller; it perfectly integrates with any Digital Audio Workstation so you can use MPC 2.0 software into your DAW if required.

The Akai MPC X features 10GBs of pre-loaded high-quality sounds and samples, and the MPC X Vault 2.0 gives you access to specially designed drum kits from leading sound design companies including CR2 Records, MVP Loops and Akai’s own kits. If you would like to use your own samples without the need of a computer, you can connect via the 2.5-inch SATA drive connector with an SSD or HDD connection. Sound can also be accessed using the built-in SD card slot.

With the Akai MPC X, you also get the ability to enable analogue control of external devices such as drum machines and other classic synths. This is done using the onboard CV/Gate outputs and is an advantageous feature for live performers. You can also sample live audio and vinyl thanks to the high-quality XLR/Line combo inputs and two RCA phono inputs that work using RIAA pre-amps. Sampling is integral to the history of the MPC range; the X builds on this foundation with extra quality and functionality.
