After the popularity of the original MPK Mini MK2 keyboard controller, Akai hit back with a limited edition MPK Mini MK3 that features a sleek white finish and a reversed colour keybed. With a plethora of professional functions, it’s easy to see why this keyboard is one of the most popular available. The natural feel of the 25 mini-keys is ideal for both new and experienced players while the eight drum pads, derived from the MPC Renaissance, allow you to create expressive drum grooves. There are eight fully-assignable rotating knobs alongside a joystick that doubles as both pitch and mod wheel which are all perfect for creating automation and controlling effects in a live performance situation. For even more creative expression there are controls for note repeat and arpeggiator functions.
Thanks to the broad range of controls and professional functions the MPK Mini MK2 is an ideal choice for any producer or composer and works brilliantly in both studio and live performance environments. The new addition of the 4-way thumbstick gives you dynamic control over both pitch and modulation in real time. The eight velocity-sensitive pads grant the ability to create ultra-funky grooves and light up when pressed thanks to pressure sensitive LEDs while eight low profile Q-Link knobs allow the MPK’s frame to remain compact, both the knobs and pads use two banks allowing the total of assignable pads and knobs to double up to 16.
This MIDI keyboard controller also comes with many additional features that grant you with endless creative options; this includes individual buttons for octave up/down for quick navigation through the octaves as well as an input for a sustain pedal which is ideal for those wanting to get the most realistic piano experience possible. The integrated arpeggiator and note repeat controls grant expressive controls and provide you with endless creativity and grant you the ability to manipulate arpeggiator range, resolution and patterns from the keyboard itself.
The MPK Mini is super-portable due to the fact it does not need an external power supply, it is power solely via USB and therefore does not require any additional MIDI cables or drivers so you can get playing with the keyboard straight out of the box. For ultra quick set up times hardware/software presets can be stored on any of the four integrated memory banks.
Alongside the MPK Mini, you get a whole bundle of free music production software and virtual instruments so you can start producing straight of the box. This includes MPC Essentials, an application that provides you with the legitimate MPC workflow in whatever your preferred DAW is or uses it as a standalone application for live performance situations. You also get Hybrid 3 by AiR Music Tech, an advanced software synth that can be used to create a plethora of different, wild sounds and includes three oscillators, three LFOs, an expandable sequencer and a broad variety of wavetables and effects allowing you to create sounds that range from classic retro synths to crazy basses and leads.
